ROXAS CITY – A 22-year-old man was arrested in a PHP1.2-million anti-drug operation on the morning of July 2 in Barangay Banica, Roxas City, Capiz.
The suspect, identified only as alias James, was apprehended when police operatives raided his residence.
The Capiz Police Provincial Office–Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (CPPO-PDEU), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Roxas City Police Station and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, carried out the raid using Search Warrant No. 40-2025.
The search warrant was issued by Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Roxas City.
Authorities recovered 38 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a mobile phone, various non-drug items, ammunition for .45- and .38-caliber firearms and a fired cartridge from a .357-caliber gun.
Capiz police chief Col. Albert Tapulao said the confiscated drugs weighed approximately 190 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP1,292,000.
Tapulao noted that while James had no prior drug-related arrest, he was on the police’s priority target list.
The suspect had been under surveillance for several months before his arrest.
Reports said he allegedly sourced his supply from Metro Manila.
He is currently detained and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
