Martingale System

The Martingale system is as simple as it is popular. It falls under the category of “progressive” betting strategies, and in that category, it is the most recognizable way to bet. Roulette players have been using it for decades, and the strategy has seeped into other forms of gambling.

But, to explain what the Martingale is, it is simply a matter of increasing your wager after each loss. Now, that is a staple of progressive betting systems in general. So, what does the Martingale bring to the table, that is new?

According to this strategy, players ought to double their initial wager, after every loss. So, if one were to start with a wager of 5, they would then bet 10, 20, 40, etc. As you can see, the problem here is that the Martingale is quite aggressive, which might not suit everyone, so be careful if you are interested in using it.

Fibonacci System

The Fibonacci sequence is one of the most well-known and important mathematical equations. Used in math, physics, and even art, the so-called golden ratio has served a lot of players quite faithfully. Well, gamblers have also jumped on the bandwagon.

For those who don’t know, the Fibonacci sequence is one where each following number is the sum total of the previous two. Gamblers thought it would be a smart move to bet based around that system. But, is it effective?

For the most part, the Fibonacci system can be quite effective, in the event of a big win. However, it suffers from the same issue as the Martingale; that being it is quite aggressive (though not as aggressive as the Martingale). 

D’Alembert System

For gamblers who want to take things slow and steady, the D’Alembert system is likely the best bet. According to this one, gamblers should think in “units” rather than currency. So, before gambling, one should establish how big their unit is (it can be as low as 1 USD, or quite high). 

After a loss, the player increases their wager by 1 unit, which would result in a bet like, for example: 5 – 10 -15 – 20, etc. The D’Alembert system is beloved because it isn’t as aggressive as the Martingale system, but it also doesn’t yield as high of a reward, in the case of a win.
