DepEd Region 6 spokesperson Hernani Escullar Jr. said 35,949 teaching personnel will be assigned to polling precincts across the region.
He added that 2,875 non-teaching staff and 2,217 support personnel, including utility workers, will also be mobilized.
These personnel will be deployed across 2,801 schools and 7,337 classrooms that will serve as polling centers in various provinces, including Negros Occidental.
Escullar, speaking on behalf of Regional Director Ramir Uytico, urged teachers to uphold professionalism and integrity throughout the election process.
“We will make sure that we protect the sanctity of the votes,” Escullar said during a recent press conference.
“We thank COMELEC for trusting DepEd to play this vital role during Election Day,” he added.
Commission on Elections Iloilo Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Reinier Layson said preparations are on track.
He confirmed that the province is now awaiting the delivery of vote-counting machines, official ballots, and other election materials.
