Over 1, 000 Negrenses avail of emergency employment assistance

TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantage/Displaced Workers), the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) employment flagship program, benefitted 1,330 marginalized workers in the different local government units of Negros Occidental.

The program allocated Php5,985 million for the wages of the beneficiaries who received Php4,500 each for a 10-day community service rendered in their respective communities.

The program served 54 workers from the municipalities of Murcia and Calatrava, and 49 from E.B. Magalona and Manapla.

Bago City and the towns of Moises Padila and Binalbagan had a total of 53 beneficiaries who availed of the project while 220 disadvantaged workers from Cauayan, Ilog, and Hinobaan received the financial assistance.

Nine hundred fifty-three (953) informal workers in Bacolod City also availed of the assistance and engaged in the different clean-up activities and de-clogging of canals in their barangays which is timely for the celebration of Masskara Festival this month.

Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. underscored the impact of the program to the daily needs of the beneficiaries and their families, as well as the benefits of the communities they are living in.

TUPAD ‘s emergency employment helped marginalized Filipinos recover from livelihood loses or displacement due to natural calamity or economic blow and giving them opportunity to render community services.
