Oliver Almadro steps down as Choco Mucho’s head coach

Renowned mentor Oliver Almadro will no longer call the shots for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the ongoing 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.

In a statement posted by the Flying Titans’ official social media page, the Choco Mucho management announced coach Almadro’s resignation as their current chief tactician and will no longer handle the team in their next set of games in the PVL.

Choco Mucho stated that Almadro requested to resign as Choco Mucho’s head coach to shift his focus to the current volleyball program of the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles.

“This decision was reached for him to focus his efforts on developing the Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Program and will take effect immediately,” wrote Choco Mucho’s statement.

Taking the place of Almadro is interim assistant coach Edjet Mabbayad who will be tasked to salvage Choco Mucho’s current 2-3 record in the import-laced conference.

Despite leading the young team to several playoff appearances, Almadro failed to lead Choco Mucho qualify in the grand finals since joining the PVL.

Choco Mucho tallied a 23-27 win-loss record under the tutelage of Almadro since the Republic Biscuit Corporation franchise decided to join last 2019.

“We thank coach O for the invaluable contribution he brought to our team since it was formed in 2019. Coach O has embodied what Titan Pride is all about,” added Choco Mucho’s statement.

Meanwhile, Almadro also expressed his thoughts regarding the recent development and thanked the whole Choco Mucho management for the opportunity they gave him.

“I would like to thank Sir Jonathan Ng, Rolly Delfino, Alan Acero, Atty. Lily Kho Gruba, Aileen Rodas, Lizanne Co, and the whole Rebisco Management for entrusting me with this team. I would also like to thank my players and coaching staff who became part of my growth as a professional volleyball coach,” he said.
