The Nxled Chameleons proudly welcomed Spain national team standout Paola Martinez Vela as their import for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.
After a stellar campaign with the Dinamo Bucuresti volleyball club in Romania, the outside hitter is ready to embrace the tough challenge of lifting the struggling Chameleons out of the mud after a 10th-place finish during the last edition of the import-laced conference.
During the 2024 Reinforced Conference, Nxled underwent a major import reshuffle after switching from Jiang Xuanyao to American outside hitter Meegan Hart until the end of the tournament.
Just when the Chameleons were already starting to build chemistry with their first Chinese import, the sudden change to Hart’s arrival hurt their in-game rhythm, causing a disappointing losing streak that kept them out of the PVL playoffs.
Now more prepared for the storm that’s about to come, Nxled made sure this time that they would be going all out, deciding to grab the services of the powerful spiker from Spain.
A member of Spain’s national team, Vela is expected to bring a wealth of international experience to the young Chameleons squad.
Vela toured around the world and was highly recognized during her stops in Poland, Belgium, Italy, and Cyprus before agreeing to a contract with the Chameleons.
With her addition to lead the youthful Nxled team, Vela will form a talented outside-hitting trio together with EJ Laure and Lyann De Guzman, under the mentorship of Italian tactician Ettore Guidetti.
“Welcome to the Nxled Chameleons, Paola Martinez Vela!” Nxled posted.
“A member of the Spain national team and a standout opposite hitter, she has played for top clubs across Spain, Romania, Poland, Belgium, Italy, and Cyprus. Now, she’s bringing her international firepower to shine with the Chameleons.”
