New Tapaz police station boosts local public safety

TAPAZ, Capiz — The Tapaz municipal government inaugurated and blessed the new Tapaz Municipal Police Station on Tuesday morning, July 28, marking a milestone in efforts to strengthen peace, security, and public service in the municipality.

Mayor Rex Dante L. Palomar and Vice Mayor Roberto O. Palomar joined the ceremony with Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño, acting director of Police Regional Office 6, and Maj. Gregg Anthony C. Salbang, chief of the Tapaz Municipal Police Station.

Members of the Sangguniang Bayan, other local officials, department heads, representatives of government agencies, and invited guests also attended the event.

Col. David L. Cachumbo Jr., officer-in-charge of the Capiz Police Provincial Office, and Col. Jofhel F. Calapiz, chief of the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division, were also present.

Their attendance underscored the collaboration between the Philippine National Police and the Tapaz municipal government in improving local law enforcement services.

Mayor Palomar said the new police station symbolizes the commitment of the PNP and the local government to provide responsive, accessible, and community-centered law enforcement.

“It stands as proof to their shared vision of ensuring peace, maintaining order, and protecting every Tapaznon through strengthened public service, effective governance, and collaborative partnerships. Together, we continue to build a safer, more peaceful, and resilient Tapaz,” the mayor said.

Tapaz is a first-class municipality composed of 58 barangays and had a population of 57,684 in the 2024 census, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
