BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region has bolstered its manpower with the deployment of 190 additional personnel, reinforcing its commitment to public safety and enhancing law enforcement capability and operational readiness.
The newly assigned police officers include 100 personnel from Police Regional Office-6, which covers Western Visayas, and 90 from Police Regional Office-7, which covers Central Visayas.
The Negros Island Region was established as a separate administrative region in 2015, comprising Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, with its own police regional office responsible for law enforcement across the three provinces.
According to Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-NIR, the personnel will be strategically distributed among various police units across Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.
Malong said the augmentation will strengthen the manpower of each unit, enabling the police force to intensify crime prevention operations, increase police visibility, and improve response capabilities.
These efforts are expected to further reinforce the region’s capacity to maintain peace and order, uphold public safety, and address security concerns more effectively.
The reassignment also allows the regional office to expand its operational reach and deliver faster and more responsive police services to communities across the region.
It will also support ongoing anti-criminality campaigns, community engagement initiatives, and other public safety operations.
Malong added that the reinforcement reflects the Philippine National Police’s continuing commitment to ensure that police units in the Negros Island Region remain adequately staffed and capable of responding to evolving security challenges.
