BACOLOD CITY — The provincial government of Negros Occidental has extended PHP 120,000 in financial aid to the family of three siblings who were brutally attacked at their residence in Silay City early this month.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson personally turned over a check on Monday to Ronelyn, mother of the siblings, from Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City.
The provincial government strongly condemned the Feb. 7 incident that claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl and left her two siblings — a 14-year-old sister and a 4-year-old brother — seriously injured.
Ronelyn, an overseas Filipino worker who was repatriated from Saudi Arabia, expressed gratitude for the support extended to their family and shared her hope that justice will soon be served for her children.
The three siblings were alone at home when an unidentified person entered their house and hit them with a stone. Their father, who was working at the time, discovered the incident when he arrived home.
A PHP 100,000 reward has been offered for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Police already have persons of interest but have yet to talk to the two survivors, whose statements are vital to the investigation.
