Negros Occidental economy expands 5.1 percent in 2024
Negros Occidental’s economy grew by 5.1 percent in 2024, marking a slowdown from the 7.0 percent expansion recorded in 2023.
The province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was estimated at PHP 277.19 billion in 2024, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Among the industries, construction posted the fastest growth at 20.3 percent, reflecting continued infrastructure activity across the province.
Other services followed with a 12.4 percent increase, while human health and social work activities expanded by 10.9 percent, underscoring rising demand for medical and social support services.
In contrast, agriculture, forestry, and fishing declined by 10.1 percent, reflecting the sector’s ongoing vulnerability to weather disturbances and fluctuating commodity prices.

The PSA reported that the province’s per capita GDP reached PHP 104,438 in 2024, a 4.7 percent increase compared to the previous year’s level.
Despite the gain, Negros Occidental remained among the provinces with a per capita GDP lower than the estimated regional average, highlighting the need for sustained inclusive growth across sectors.
