Resident beneficiaries at St. Patrick Homes, a relocation site in Brgy. Tiglawigan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental will soon gain access to better facilities with the ongoing construction of a multi-purpose building undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office, in convergence with National Housing Authority (NHA).
In his report to OIC-Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, OIC-District Engineer Dene B. Baldonado, Jr said the completed ₱10-million structure will serve as a conducive center and a better avenue for various government programs and services to the people, especially those who were displaced and relocated.
“The completion of this multi-purpose building will provide better access to various social services for the residents of St. Patrick Homes as it is located within the housing project itself,” OIC-RD Sannu Boy O. Oropel said.
“We will continue to work hand-in-hand with national government agencies and local government units in advancing the interest and welfare of various communities by building quality infrastructure that will be beneficial to them,” RD Oropel added.
“This multi-purpose building is significantly beneficial to the community that needs to maximize the use of space. These building is versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, including office, health center, meeting room, workshop, and many more,” RD Oroprel further said.
In addition, OIC-District Dene B. Baldonado, Jr. disclosed that the 2-storey multi-purpose building, with a total floor area of 196 square meters, is designed for various purposes. Parking spaces and activity areas were also included in the project
“This structure includes a daycare center on the second floor and a health center on the first floor. This may also serve as a venue for meetings, social and political activities, and other programs and activities of the government for the people in the community,” DE Baldonado said.
Efficient implementation of programs and distribution of services in communities require better facilities. Multi-purpose buildings provide great benefits to communities as they serve as venues for various social and educational services and activities. Hence, other than constructing roads, bridges and flood control projects, DPWH prioritizes building structures that could directly benefit people. (DPWH)
