Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI), a subsidiary of SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC), has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts for the South Block of its MTerra Solar Project to Energy China and GEDI Construction Development Corporation.
The agreements, signed on Oct. 23, 2025, cover EPC works for TSPI’s 3,500-megawatt peak (MWp) solar farm and 4,500-megawatt hour (MWh) battery energy storage system in Central Luzon.
The contracts include warranty provisions, defect resolution mechanisms, and operational and maintenance protocols to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of the MTerra Solar Project.
The South Block, part of the project’s Phase 2, comprises a 1,050 MWp solar facility and a 1.2 gigawatt hour (GWh) battery energy storage system designed to strengthen grid stability and energy security.
MGEN Renewables, through its President and CEO Dennis B. Jordan, formalized the partnership with Energy China executives led by Vice President Zhang Deliang, along with Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Vice President Chen Lan and General Manager Guo Chuangang.
Jordan said the collaboration with Energy China marks another milestone in MTerra’s mission to accelerate the country’s renewable energy transition and expand sustainable power generation capacity.
The EPC contracts were signed by representatives from MGEN Renewables, including Supply Chain Management Head; Project Development and Execution Head Ashvind Gobinathan; Chief Finance Officer Rochel Donato Gloria; and Chief Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer Atty. Mary Ann Ballesteros.
Energy China’s participation in the MTerra Solar Project highlights the growing role of Chinese firms in supporting the Philippines’ renewable energy expansion, particularly in large-scale solar and storage projects.
Once fully operational, the MTerra Solar Project is expected to be one of Southeast Asia’s largest solar farms, supplying clean and reliable power to the Luzon grid and supporting the Department of Energy’s target of increasing renewable energy’s share in the country’s power mix to 50 percent by 2040.
