After ABS-CBN’s shutdown last August, the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) found itself out of a home.
The fallout of ABS-CBN forced the MPBL’s search of a new broadcasting partner to air all of their games especially that the upcoming season is nearing.
According to MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, the People’s Television Network offered their services to the league.
Popularly known as PTV, the state-owned network previously aired the UAAP, NCAA, PBL, and the PBA. It also airs international sporting events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, and the Southeast Asian Games.
Aside from PTV, Duremdes also revealed that GMA is interested in broadcasting the games and is in close communication with the said station following the shutdown of their former partner.
“Ang nag-offer una PTV-4 and then meron din matagal na bago mag-close si ABS, may line na tayo sa GMA,” added Duremdes.
Last mentioned by the MPBL commissioner was ONE Sports channel who recently got bigtime deals inked with the NBA and ONE FC.
“Recently lang pumasok ang One Sports channel; I’ve spoken to Mr. Jude Turcuato. And sinabi ko nga kay Senator na merong offer din si One Sports na same din ng offer ng ABS,” Duremdes shared.
