Mother Shot Dead by Son in Capiz Town

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A mother was killed after being accidentally shot by her son Sunday afternoon, April 27, at Sitio Hinagdan, Barangay Dapdapan, Sapian, Capiz.
The Sapian police identified the victim as Daisy Fuentes Resurreccion, 48, and the suspect as Reyland Resurreccion, 28, both residents of the area.
According to the police, Reyland took a firearm placed inside a bag to clean it, but Daisy approached him and tried to retrieve the firearm.
During the struggle, the firearm, which Reyland was handling while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, accidentally discharged and hit Daisy in the leg.
The victim was rushed to Mambusao District Hospital in Mambusao town but died a few hours later.
The suspect was immediately arrested and is currently in the custody of the Sapian Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
It was learned that the family acquired the firearm for self-defense purposes.
