Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental led the gift-giving to more than 2,000 indigent residents of the town who were guests to the local government’s Christmas Party at the municipal auditorium on Sunday.
In her speech, the mayor said she wanted a different celebration instead of the usual social gathering where the municipal employees share gifts and food amongst themselves.
“Let us share our blessings to the widows, orphans, elderly, people with disability, and to those who are poor, especially those who do not have any social pension” the mayor said.
The guests were treated to lunch and received more than 4 kilos of rice each in addition to the pre-loved clothes given to them by the municipal employees.
This is the first Christmas party of the local government wherein instead of exchanging gifts, they gave gifts to the public.
