Mirra Andreeva has done it.
For the first time since turning professional, the 19-year-old Russian ace bagged her maiden French Open Grand Slam title after dominating Poland’s Maja Chwalinska, 6-3, 6-2, on June 6, 2026, at Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris, France.
Andreeva’s breakthrough win in Paris was made sweeter after she completed her majestic run without dropping a single set from the third round, sweeping all her opponents until the championship match.
Fresh off a lopsided win against Marta Kostyuk in the semifinals, Andreeva carried momentum from the victory and pummeled Chwalinska from the get-go.
After scoring an early break point to change the complexion of the game, Andreeva snowballed her way to a comfortable 6-3 win and held all her service games before the second set started.
Eager to storm her way back into the game, Chwalinska mixed things up by relying on her forehand groundstrokes to cover her baseline area, but the power and efficient angles Andreeva threw proved to be too much.
Chwalinska gained some momentum midway through the second set after outlasting Andreeva in two long rallies, but the laser-focused Russian was quick to answer with three laser-sharp groundstroke winners to get back on track.
Andreeva then saved her best for last after playing a flawless game in the remaining 10 minutes of the championship match to secure the golden trophy in France.
“I’ve been watching Roland Garros on TV since I was very, very young,” Andreeva said during the awarding ceremony.
“It’s also a big dream of mine to win this tournament, and I honestly cannot believe that I’m holding this trophy right now.”
Despite the loss, Chwalinska still put up her best performance on the Grand Slam stage so far after reaching the finals while defeating the likes of Diana Shnaider, Anna Kalinskaya, and Diane Parry.
