Finally, Mikey Williams is back.
After nearly three years of PBA hiatus, the former TNT Tropang 5G superstar found a new home, inking a deal with the Converge FiberXers for the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup conference set to kick off this March.
Williams last saw action in the PBA during the 2023 Governors’ Cup finals, where he helped TNT bag the golden trophy while winning Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors.
However, Williams and the TNT front office engaged in a wild contract dispute after the championship run, forcing him to fly back to the U.S. and ditch the remaining terms of the deal.
Due to Williams’ terminated TNT contract, Converge made its move in June 2025, acquiring his signing rights from the Tropang 5G in exchange for shooting guard Jordan Heading.
Williams failed to suit up for the FiberXers for the entire 2025 season but is now activated after announcing his arrival in his latest Instagram post, captioned, “It’s all God. And just like that, it begins.”
Before his much-awaited PBA comeback, Williams was called up by Strong Group Athletics last year to become part of its roster in the Dubai International Basketball Championship tournament.
Williams earned a lot of praise after showing the same offensive skill set despite taking a leave of absence from the PBA, but the challenge in this import-laced conference is more intense, as he has only one week left to prepare before tipoff.
Playing alongside the scoring machine in the backcourt are Juan Gomez de Liaño, Alec Stockton, Kurt Reyson, and MJ Garcia.
With the addition of veteran small forward Calvin Abueva and import Kylor Kelley, the FiberXers are expected to clinch back-to-back PBA playoff appearances and are already considered one of the dark horses of the Commissioner’s Cup.
