Early this year, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results of board examinations in nursing, medical technology, electronics engineering, and criminology. Results of the Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) were released in February 2026. Three thousand six hundred eleven (3,611) out of 8,162 passed. Western Visayas produced 186 passers out of 359 takers, or a 51.81% passing percentage. One hundred seventy-six (176) first-time takers out of 254, or 69.29%, passed. Meanwhile, 7,838 of the 9,317 examinees passed the Medical Technologists Licensure Examination in March 2026. The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City ranked No. 6 in the said examination among schools with 50 or more examinees and at least a 90% passing percentage. Western Visayas produced 644 passers out of 715 takers, or a 90.07% passing percentage. Six hundred thirty-eight (638) out of 686 first-time takers, or 93%, passed.
On the other hand, 30,320 out of 45,936 examinees passed the February 2026 Licensure Examination for Criminologists. Twenty-eight thousand eight hundred twenty-nine (28,829) first-time examinees out of 41,250, or 69.89%, passed. The University of Iloilo ranked No. 1 among schools with 200 or more examinees and at least an 80% passing percentage. Meanwhile, the University of Antique in Sibalom, Antique, ranked No. 6 among schools with the same number of examinees and passing percentage categories. The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, ranked No. 10 among schools with 101 to 199 examinees and at least an 80% passing percentage. STI – West Negros University in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, ranked No. 3 among schools with 30 to 50 examinees and at least an 80% passing percentage. Western Visayas produced 2,312 passers out of 3,255 takers, or a 71% passing percentage. Two thousand two hundred nine (2,209) out of 2,936 first-time takers, or 75.24%, passed.
Lastly, 1,692 of the 2,746 examinees passed the March 2026 Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination. One thousand three hundred thirty-four (1,334) first-time takers out of 1,794, or 74.36%, passed. The Technological University of the Philippines – Visayas (TUP-Visayas) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, ranked No. 1 among schools with 20 or more examinees and at least an 80% passing percentage. Meanwhile, ISAT University in La Paz, Iloilo City, ranked No. 6 among schools with the same number of examinees and passing percentage categories. There were two (2) examinees from TUP-Visayas who garnered places in the top 10 of the said examination: Lexther Romel Paloma Kimpo (ranked No. 4) and Marc John Evangelista Jopson (ranked No. 10). Western Visayas produced 167 passers out of 196 takers, or an 85.2% passing percentage. One hundred fifty-seven (157) out of 180 first-time takers, or 87.22%, passed.
Finally, as a whole, the above results showed that most of the first-time examinees from Western Visayas performed better than those at the national level. In the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination, first-time takers in Western Visayas posted 93 passers out of 100, compared with 89 passers out of 100 at the national level. First-time takers in the Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination in Western Visayas also registered strong performance, with 87 passers out of 100. First-time takers in the Criminologist Licensure Examination also performed well in Western Visayas, with 75 passers out of 100. On the other hand, the performance of first-time examinees from Region VI, covering the whole of Panay and Guimaras islands, was slightly lower compared with that of Western Visayas: 75 out of 100 passed the Nurse Licensure Examination; 91 out of 100 passed the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination; 67 out of 100 passed the Criminologist Licensure Examination; and 51 out of 100 passed the Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination. Therefore, the overall results conclude that CHED effectively implemented the said programs’ policies, standards, and guidelines.
