Mayor Jerry Treñas has reiterated that he will never allow illegal drugs to proliferate again in Iloilo City.
Treñas made the statement as he commended the Iloilo City Police Office for its relentless campaign against illegal drugs.
“This is a fight we must win, and we are winning it,” he said, referring to ICPO’s sustained anti-drug efforts.
Treñas acknowledged, however, that more still needs to be done.
With less than a month left in his term, he expressed confidence that the next administration will continue, and even surpass, the city government’s support for ICPO.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining resources and coordination to sustain the anti-drug campaign.
Treñas praised ICPO for seizing over PHP12.3 million worth of suspected shabu and more than PHP8,000 worth of marijuana.
From May 1 to 31, ICPO units arrested 54 drug suspects, including 19 high-value individuals.
He said these accomplishments reflect the police force’s strong commitment to keeping Iloilo City safe and drug-free.
Treñas added that the results demonstrate operational excellence and strong partnerships across ICPO units.
He cited the collaboration of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, led by Police Capt. Glenn Soliman, and the City Drug Enforcement Unit, under Police Capt. Ryan Christ Inot, along with local police stations.
He also urged the public to continue working with the government, law enforcement and the community.
