Mayor orders probe of bomb threats vs school

BACOLOD City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez has ordered the local police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to hasten the investigation on the recent series of bomb threats against St. John Institute (SJI) here.

The threats prompted Benitez to meet with some representatives of SJI, Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), and Atty. Renoir Baldovino, head of NBI-Bacolod, at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) last Thursday to address the problem.

Benitez said he condemned any violence that threatens the security and public safety here, especially with the students of SJI.

According to a school’s security guard, they have received at least six bomb threats from unknown individuals, which affected some of the on-site classes of the students.

With this, the school has heightened its security measures, as they continue to track the persons behind the threats.

Benitez assured that the NBI and the BCPO are on top of the situation.

Currently, the SJI students are on a holiday break.
