WATER DEAL SEALED: MPIW, WeeComm forge partnership for new transmission pipeline serving Emerald Estates

ILOILO CITY – Metro Pacific Iloilo Water Inc. (MPIW) and Iloilo Southprime Developers Inc., operating as WeeComm, formally signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the construction of a new water transmission pipeline connecting Mandurriao Plaza to Emerald Estates Subdivision in Barangay Cagbang, Oton.

The agreement was signed by MPIW Chief Operating Officer Angelo David Berba, WeeComm Chief Operating Officer Carson Choa, WeeComm Area Head Carvin Choa, and WeeComm Project Director Wilson Saldon. The signing ceremony was attended by homeowners of Emerald Estates and Barangay Cagbang Punong Barangay Ramie Villaruel.

The new transmission pipeline will span approximately 5,137 linear meters, linking MPIW’s existing distribution network to Emerald Estates and providing the subdivision with a direct and dedicated water connection. The project will also strengthen the overall distribution system serving Mandurriao, Sooc, and nearby areas while preparing the network to accommodate additional supply from MPIW’s upcoming 66.5-million-liter-per-day (MLD) desalination facility.

Under the agreement, MPIW and WeeComm will jointly share the cost of the project, with MPIW taking the lead in engineering design, contractor selection, permitting, and overall project implementation. Construction is targeted to begin in January 2027, with an estimated completion period of nine months.

Through this investment, we are strengthening our network, improving service reliability, and preparing for the future water needs of Emerald Estates and neighboring areas,” said MPIW Chief Operating Officer Angelo David Berba.

For WeeComm, the project reflects its commitment to providing the best for the wider community. “We decided to pursue this project because we want to provide the best for our community. It will not only benefit Emerald Estates, but also all residents along the areas that will be served by MPIW’s water line. The project reflects the shared commitment of MPIW and WeeComm to support community development through strategic infrastructure investments. Once completed, the transmission line will help ensure a more resilient water distribution system while supporting the continued growth of Emerald Estates and surrounding communities.
