THE Silver MassKara Festival Organization is calling all barangays interested to join the Street and Arena Dance Competition to a general meeting on July 29, 2019, 2 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center MassKara Halls 1 and 2.
The Street and Arena Dance Competition, one of the highlights of the MassKara Festival, is set October 26 for schools and October 27 for barangays.
Only 15 barangays will compete. The first 10 slots are open to the top 10 finishers last year. The remaining 5 slots will be assigned through a drawing of lots.
All choreographers of the competing barangays automatically qualify for Face-off: ‘The MassKara Dance Showdown’ that will be held nightly at the Bacolod Public Plaza. For this, barangay choreographers will form and lead a group of 8-10 dancers in a MassKara street dance showdown.
This will showcase the best of MassKara dancers so tourists who come in early October will have a chance to see them before the streetdancing contests on October 26 and 27.
There will also be a separate meeting for the choreographers of the schools’ category.
The MassKara Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
