The MassKaNamit Food Festival, the newest addition to this year’s MassKara celebration, is gearing up to open its doors to showcase arts, culture and cuisine that is truly Negrense, and promises to launch Bacolod City as a culinary destination.
Savor heirloom dishes from restaurateurs that have made their brand as food institutions in Bacolod in just one place as the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation brings in a dozen of their specialties for people to enjoy in a 10-day culinary extravaganza at the Upper East, Megaworld from October 13 – 22.
This is in line with the vision of Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez to make the city as a major food destination in the country that caters to local and international palates.
Thus the MassKaNamit festival site will feature “curated” food kiosks where local dishes will be highlighted along with an international food section.
To highlight local culture and arts, there will be nightly entertainment including a one-night outdoor cinema presentation featuring the works as a tribute to one of Bacolod’s pride, award-winning film and theater director, Peque Gallaga on October 17.
On the opening night, a food crawl festival will feature famous dishes that have made Bacolod a byword in foods like cansi, chicken inasal, callos, dinuguan with puto, batchoy, bacolod lechon, and delicacies like piaya and barquillos, cakes and artisanal ice cream.
In preparing the site, commuters are advised that one portion of the road in the Upper East, Megaworld will be closed as organizers set up the stage and concessionaires will set up their food kiosks from 9:00 PM of October 10 to 2:00 PM of October 13.
There will be rerouting of traffic within the Megaworld site once the festival site opens on the 13th and more road closures and traffic rerouting on October 21 as the site will host the Electric MassKara parade.
