He’s not done yet. Manny Pacquiao is back in the ring.
On Feb. 18, 2026, the Filipino boxing icon stole the sporting world’s headlines once again after multiple reports confirmed his return in an exhibition showdown against Russia’s Ruslan Provodnikov.
The 10-round exhibition bout will take place on April 19, 2026 (PHL time), and will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Coming off a majority draw decision against Mario Barrios, Pacquiao was close to closing a fight deal with Rolly Romero, but an unexpected turn of events prevented the clash from materializing when the World Boxing Association (WBA) intervened.
Midway through December last year, the WBA ordered Romero to defend his welterweight title against mandatory challenger Shakhram Giyasov and criticized his camp for bypassing protocol.
Romero was still persistent in making the Pacquiao fight happen, writing a letter of request to the WBA, but the boxing body did not entertain his appeal, which led to the negotiations’ collapse.
Three months after the stagnant period, Pacquiao decided to move on his own, successfully arranging an exhibition against Provodnikov, a former World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight champion.
Provodnikov retired from the sport in 2016 and has only fought in a single exhibition match in 2021, against former UFC star Ali Bagautinov.
Although both fighters will be facing off inside the canvas this coming April, Pacquiao and Provodnikov shared a long-standing professional and personal bond in their time as sparring partners at the Wild Card Gym supervised by the legendary Freddie Roach.
During Pacquiao’s training camp against Timothy Bradley, Provodnikov served as his lead sparring partner and was with him for three consecutive months.
Both fighters also had several chances to meet when Pacquiao was still fighting in the junior welterweight division, but rumor has it that they avoided each other due to the deep friendship and mutual respect that they had off the ring.
According to several boxing outlets, the Provodnikov exhibition bout will serve as Pacquiao’s warm-up fight in preparation for a bigger fish in the welterweight division.
