A 38-year-old jobless man remains on the run after allegedly shooting his common-law wife shortly before midnight on July 18 in Molo, Iloilo City.
Iron Macalalag allegedly gunned down his live-in partner, 38-year-old Laarni Poblacion, following a fight at their home in Zone 3, Barangay Salvacion Habog-habog, Molo.
Poblacion, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), had reportedly cautioned Macalalag for allowing their minor daughter to handle his handgun.
This warning did not sit well with Macalalag, who was under the influence of alcohol. In the presence of their children, the couple had a heated argument.
They then left their house together with their young daughter, continuing their verbal tussle as they walked.
Shortly after, the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the forehead. The bullet exited through the upper left portion of her head. Macalalag fled with their daughter in tow.
The victim was rushed to Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital but did not survive. Police authorities have stated they have leads on where the suspect may be hiding.
Macalalag was last seen flagging down a tricycle in Barangay Mohon, Arevalo, allegedly with their two children.
Initial reports suggested they might be hiding in a town in Iloilo province, but recent information indicates they could have gone to Antique province.
