The Magnolia Hotshots Chicken Timplados will be fielding a 6-foot-10 American bruiser, Terrell Brown-Soares, for the upcoming PBA Commissioner’s Cup, confirmed on Feb. 8, 2026.
After a disappointing import-laced conference last year, when they barely made the playoffs, head coach LA Tenorio and the rest of the coaching staff have decided to move on from their resident reinforcement, Ricardo Ratliffe.
An imposing defensive lynchpin who can anchor the paint and hold the interior, Brown-Soares’ presence will relieve Magnolia’s woes in the shaded lane and could create more space for their talented guards.
Before agreeing to join the Chicken Timplados, Brown-Soares last rendered his services to Polish club Miasto Szkla Krosno, where he averaged 9.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.
Brown-Soares is known for his shot-blocking ability and is currently the record holder for single-game blocks at the University of Pittsburgh, with nine rejections.
He attempted to enter the National Basketball Association (NBA), but went undrafted during the 2022 NBA Rookie Draft ceremony.
Brown-Soares first got a glimpse of the professional setting during the 2022–23 season, when he was signed by the Birmingham Squadron to play in the NBA G League.
Unfortunately, despite tallying impressive stats, Brown-Soares failed to earn a two-way contract and later explored overseas opportunities.
The 28-year-old enforcer played as an import for Basket Brno in the Czech Republic, where he boosted his acquisition stock to secure contracts in Mexico and Poland.
Playing alongside Brown-Soares in Magnolia’s frontcourt rotation are Ian Sangalang, Zavier Lucero, Yukien Andrada, and James Laput.
The PBA Commissioner’s Cup is scheduled to kick off on March 11, 2026, the first import-laced conference of the year.
