Luka Doncic makes NBA history in emphatic comeback win over Knicks

Luka Doncic inked his name in the NBA history books once again after becoming the first player to record 60+ points, 20+ rebounds, and 10+ assists in a single game.

The Slovenian superstar’s historic night came after willing the Dallas Mavericks to an emphatic 126-121 comeback win in overtime against the New York Knicks last December 28, 2022.

Doncic finished the come-from-behind victory with 60 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, and a block.

It was a miraculous performance for Doncic after leading Dallas’ comeback in the final canto when they were still down by nine points in the final minute of the slugfest.

Not willing to let his team down with a loss in front of their home fans, Doncic went Tracy McGrady mode and scored 10 quick points in just 58 seconds.

After scoring back-to-back easy deuces in the shaded lane, Doncic scored two of the most important baskets that led them to their comeback.

First, the bang and the bucket when he grabbed the offensive put-back with 15 seconds left in the clock that cut their deficit to just three points, 112-109, and the game-tying basket that forced another five minutes of the extra period.

It was then all Dallas in overtime as Doncic continued his majestic performance and schooled the New York perimeter defense.

Up by three points with only a minute left in the game, 120-117, Doncic sent the early dagger after burying a tough and contested fade-away shot from the right baseline that extended their lead to five points.

Doncic was already having a great game from the get-go but New York’s waxing hot offense led by Quentin Grimes and Julius Randle kept the visiting team ahead and was bound for a wire-to-wire win.

Aside from Doncic’s heroics, Christian Wood and Spencer Dinwiddie also provided big baskets during that fiery fourth-quarter rally and contributed big three-pointers.

After the game, Doncic then said during his post-match interview: “I’m tired as hell. I need a recovery beer.”
