The Land Transportation Office Region 6 will issue a show cause order to the mother of a 17-year-old motorcycle rider caught on video performing a dangerous “Superman” stunt in Dumangas, Iloilo.
The viral video prompted LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II to order the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit to begin administrative proceedings against the teen’s mother.
An initial LTO-6 record check revealed the teen has no valid student permit and the motorcycle he used is unregistered.
Under transportation laws, parents or guardians may be held administratively liable if minors operate motor vehicles without proper licenses or safety compliance.
The incident was first flagged on Facebook by Barangay Dacutan Captain Stephen James Foerster, who criticized the stunt and said it delayed a rescue team’s emergency response.
“Another irresponsible driver,” Foerster wrote in Hiligaynon.
In response to the viral video, Geduspan and Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu said appropriate legal and administrative actions may follow.
“Reckless driving and operating a motorcycle without a license are serious violations that put lives at risk,” Geduspan said.
LTO-6 stressed that issuing a show cause order is part of a national effort, led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., to enforce road safety and discipline among motorists.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II and Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon vowed to intensify crackdowns on unsafe driving behavior.
The agency warned that viral online stunts, while attention-grabbing, have real-world legal consequences.
