A professional police officer must be responsible and accountable for their actions.
Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, made this clear during his first command visit to the Iloilo City Police Office at Camp Achilles Plagata on July 3.
Ligan highlighted the three leadership pillars of PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III: swift and responsive police service, unity and morale within the ranks, and accountability with modernization.
He also reiterated a key message from his inaugural address.
“No bad deed will go unpunished. Those who err will face consequences,” he said.
Ligan underscored the importance of integrity in wearing the police uniform and providing public service.
“Alagaan natin ang paggamit ng ating uniporme at pag-render ng serbisyo. ‘Wag nating babawalain. Always remember, we are accountable for our actions and deeds,” he said.
He emphasized that accountability must always be embedded in a police officer’s identity.
“Please, do the right thing. Wala mawawala kapag gumawa kayo ng tama,” he added.
Ligan’s visit came 13 days after he assumed office.
Beyond accountability, he assessed the operational readiness, morale, and overall welfare of police personnel in Iloilo City.
Ligan also reminded personnel to remain grateful and place God first in their duties.
He encouraged even a brief prayer for guidance before starting their shift and upon returning home.
Ligan’s visit reaffirmed PRO6’s commitment to service excellence and its continuing efforts to improve the capability and welfare of police units across Western Visayas.
