LaMelo Ball delivered a performance for the ages after erupting for a 38-13-13 triple-double stat line during the Charlotte Hornets’ come-from-behind 139-113 win over the Washington Wizards in the ongoing NBA regular season on Oct. 27, 2025.
Trailing by as much as 13 points early in the game, Ball did all the little things for the Hornets and led them to a second-half comeback as they outscored the Wizards 88-51.
After letting their slim margin slip away, Ball took matters into his own hands, kicking off the third quarter with huge three-point bombs while controlling the tempo with his insane court vision.
Charlotte played catch-up for the majority of the third quarter, but after Ball switched on his turbo button, everything fell into place for the Hornets, starting with his pocket dimes to open shooters whenever he attracted multiple defenders on his drives.
It was plain and simple: Ball utilized the kick-out game with efficiency, feeding the wide-open Kon Knueppel several times while boosting the confidence of Moussa Diabate, who feasted in the shaded lane through his pick-and-roll passes.
With the score knotted at 82-all with three minutes still remaining in the third, Ball officially put the Hornets back in the driver’s seat after knocking down a long trey, 85-82.
Ball’s wizardry continued in the remaining two minutes of the third, as he was able to tally three more assists that helped balloon Charlotte’s lead to seven points, 93-86.
That clutch closeout performance to end the third did serious damage to the Wizards, both physically and mentally, as Ball’s navigation of his teammates drained a lot of their energy in trying to cover his ground.
Ball circled around the hardwood, took multiple back screens, and executed several relocation movements to disrupt Washington’s defensive flow.
As a result, Charlotte went out with fresher legs in the fourth, sucking the life out of the Wizards when they hammered them with a 44-25 final frame scoring difference.
Ball was magnificent in Charlotte’s second win with 38 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists.
His triple-double over the Wizards became his 11th career total, and he will have the chance to surpass that feat with 79 games still left in the regular season.
Backstopping Ball was Knueppel, who dropped 20 markers built from five three-pointers, and Collin Sexton, a midseason pickup from the Utah Jazz, who added 20 points, three dimes, two boards, and two steals.
