BACOLOD CITY — A dispute over catching spiders led to the death of a 28-year-old laborer who was allegedly stabbed by his live-in partner in New Stockyard, Barangay 1 (Poblacion), Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday.
Police identified the victim by the alias “Inday,” who was described as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Police Maj. Ryan Villasario, chief of the Moises Padilla police, said the victim and the suspect had been drinking when they became involved in a heated argument.
Villasario said the dispute stemmed from an argument about spiders and was possibly aggravated when the suspect questioned the victim about his whereabouts.
The 26-year-old suspect, identified by the alias “Kalbo,” allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife shortly after midnight and fled the scene.
The stabbing was witnessed by the suspect’s 16-year-old brother, who later reported the incident to police, Villasario said.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and died at a hospital several hours later, according to police.
Villasario said the victim and the suspect had been in a live-in relationship for about a year.
Police said they are awaiting the victim’s family’s decision on whether to file charges against the suspect.
