BACOLOD CITY — A 56-year-old laborer was allegedly hacked to death by his younger brother during an altercation Tuesday in Purok Detachment, Sitio Mambato, Barangay To-oy, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Police said the incident stemmed from a domestic argument between the victim and his live-in partner.
According to the partner’s statement, the 50-year-old suspect—who was reportedly intoxicated—ran amok outside the house, repeatedly hitting the door and shouting.
This enraged the victim, who confronted his brother while holding a piece of wood.
The suspect initially went home but later returned armed with a sugarcane cutter.
The victim allegedly struck the suspect with the wood, prompting the latter to retaliate by hacking him multiple times.
The suspect fled but was later arrested by authorities during a hot pursuit operation.
The victim was declared dead at a hospital after sustaining injuries to the head, neck, and other parts of the body.
