Laborer electrocuted while draining grave in Kabankalan

BACOLOD CITY — A 33-year-old laborer died after being electrocuted while setting up a submersible pump at a cemetery in Barangay 1, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.

Police identified the victim as alias “Roger,” a resident of Himamaylan City.

According to police, citing a statement from one of the victim’s co-workers, they were preparing for an upcoming burial at the cemetery.

The victim was assigned to drain accumulated water from a grave using a submersible pump.

However, he was accidentally electrocuted and fell into the water-filled grave.

His companions assisted him and brought him to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

The victim’s sister later reported the incident to police.
