BACOLOD CITY — A 52-year-old laborer died after he was struck by lightning at his home in Barangay Anahaw, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Sunday.
Police identified the victim only as “Rodolfo.”
Police Lt. Col. Jovil Sedel, chief of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, said the victim’s wife went to the station on Monday to report the incident.
Investigation showed that the victim was sitting on their terrace when heavy rains occurred, followed by a lightning strike at 2 p.m.
Police said he had been leaning on the mesh wire enclosing the terrace when he was electrocuted, causing him to fall to the ground.
He was rushed to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic but was declared dead on arrival, according to the police.
