The Korea curse continues to haunt the Philippines.
But this time, it’s in the E-games where the Koreans got the better of the Filipinos after trouncing them in the series finals, 3-0, during the NBA 2K20 The Pacific Pro-AM Tournament.
The highly-anticipated lineup of Playbook Laus Esports (PH), who previously dominated the FIBA Esports Open with all members having a 99 average in their stats, bowed down and was upset entirely by team Promy from Korea.
During the final game, team Promy out-maneuvered Playbook from the first quarter down to the last frame to seal the series victory and the championship, 32-49.
The PH national squad had their grip early in their first meeting but fell short and lost momentum in the clutch moments of the game, 50-59.
With hopes of bouncing back, the PH squad tried to switch it up to a man-to-man defense but the Koreans were quick to counter with their run-and-gun play style that proved to be too much for Playbook and suffered another loss, 24-47.
