Ilonggos are in for a treat as Kaya FC-Iloilo returns to the Iloilo Sports Complex for their first home game of the 2023 Philippines Football League (PFL).
Kaya FC will have a tough assignment when they were tasked to take down the Dynamic Herb Cebu FC on February 19, 2023, one of the teams that handed them a loss last year.
The Ilonggos were near to spoiling Dynamic Herb’s home game last October but the Cebuanos cashed in clutch goals to take the win, 3-2, and equalize their season matchup at 1-1.
Kaya FC will look to extend its winning streak on its home pitch and is coming off a 2-1 victory against United City FC last November 12, 2022.
An estimated one thousand Ilonggo football enthusiasts flocked to the Iloilo Sports Complex that day and witnessed one of the most spectacular finishes for Kaya FC.
Arnel Amita drew first blood for Iloilo in the first half followed by a Jarvey Gayoso silencer goal to secure the victory against the former Ceres Negros-FC team.
After the match was equalized at 1-1 second before the first half ended, the one thousand Ilonggos in attendance pumped Kaya FC up when they started to shout various cheers that encouraged them to ramp up their intensity in the second half.
The infectious energy shown by the Ilonggos then resulted in a better second half after Gayoso made a goal with 12 minutes remaining in the match.
Janjan Melliza, one of the widely-renowned Ilonggo players for Kaya FC, will still lead the team together with mainstays Marwin Angeles, Daizo Horikoshi, and Eric Giganto.
Ilonggo Jovin Bedic is still the squad’s team captain and will also travel with the whole team for their Iloilo trip this weekend.
