As competition in the job market intensifies, Jobstreet by SEEK reported a 179% year-on-year increase in job applications per job post on its platform.
With job seekers facing higher hurdles, a compelling resume and confident interview performance have become critical to standing out from the crowd.
According to Jobstreet by SEEK, 75% of resumes are rejected before reaching a hiring manager, and recruiters often decide within the first 90 seconds of an interview whether to proceed with a candidate.
To address these challenges and improve youth hireability, Jobstreet by SEEK partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to host the “Ready, Set, Hired!” workshop at the WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 event.
More than 100 candidates attended the session, which aimed to promote skills excellence and empower young professionals with job readiness tools.
Participants received practical advice on resume writing, including tips on structure, detail selection, and the use of strong action verbs to better articulate their capabilities.
The workshop also covered strategies to excel in interviews, such as conducting company research, answering questions with confidence, and using effective non-verbal communication.
In addition to verbal and written skills, attendees were coached on how to dress for success, with mock interviews and style consultations led by SEEK volunteers and resume clinic experts.
“At Jobstreet by SEEK, we have seen how technical and vocational skills are becoming increasingly valuable in today’s digital economy,” said Dannah Majarocon, Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines Managing Director.
“Through initiatives like ‘Ready, Set, Hired’ we hope to empower more young professionals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed, helping them secure work opportunities,” she added.
