BACOLOD CITY — A 31-year-old job order casual employee assigned to the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) died after crashing into the rear of a truck temporarily parked in Zone 5, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
Police Major Rhazl Jim Jocson, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the victim was on his way to fetch his wife in the village when the accident occurred on a dimly lit portion of the road at 6:50 p.m.
Jocson said the truck driver had stopped to check his vehicle as he was heading home.
He said the truck was parked with its hazard lights on when the driver suddenly heard a loud crash from the rear of the vehicle.
Jocson said the victim, a resident of Barangay Alangilan in Bacolod City, was declared dead at a hospital.
He added that the truck driver was released from police custody following an initial settlement.
Jocson said the victim’s family does not want to dwell on the details of the incident and has appealed for privacy as they grieve.
