One of the greatest basketball players in the PBA is considering flying to the United States to continue his coaching job.
Jimmy “The Mighty Mouse” Alapag bared his plans to go to the US and test the waters of the NBA and the NBA-G League.
In a podcast by 20T, Alapag confirmed that he and his family are worried about the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines and are mulling a move to the US.
“To be completely honest, it is something that we are thinking about. With so much uncertainty around the world and here in the country especially from a sports and basketball landscape, it’s something that we are thinking about,” Alapag revealed.
Alapag said he has already contacted his colleagues and friends in the Sacramento Kings organization and the people he knew around the NBA and the G-league.
The PBA and Gilas Pilipinas legend explained that although he may have experience as an assistant coach in the NBA summer league, earning a spot in one of the big league’s teams as part of the pool would still be hard.
“There’s still a lot happening. The NBA is in the playoffs and they haven’t announced anything in terms of next season but it’s definitely a possibility. We will see,” Alapag added.
