BACOLOD City – A man was wounded after he grappled for a gun during a jealousy-driven commotion with his wife inside their house at Barangay Kumaliskis, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Jonel Librando, 29.
Police Lieutenant Everly Canto, deputy police chief of Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station, said the Jonel and his 28-year-old wife had an argument Saturday night after the victim suspected the latter of having an affair.
The following day, the couple figured again in an argument and while the wife was sweeping the floor, the victim allegedly grabbed the broom from her, broke it, and reportedly hit her with its handle, Canto said.
The husband then reportedly took a .38-caliber revolver, but the wife, upon seeing her husband armed with the weapon, grappled for the gun.
The gun then went off with the bullet hitting the victim’s nape.
The victim was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, while his wife is in police custody.
Canto said they are waiting for the victim’s decision whether to file a case against his wife.
However, the wife also alleged that her husband was abusing her physically and had it recorded previously in the barangay.
