YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and his camp were quick to find a remedy after his potential exhibition bout against Gervonta Davis went into limbo.
In a surprising turn of events, Paul’s camp reached out to Ryan Garcia, a former interim lightweight champion, to replace Davis in their upcoming Netflix matchup set for Nov. 14, 2025.
According to multiple reports, Davis’ commitment might be in jeopardy after he was rocked by a new wave of legal troubles involving domestic violence, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping.
It was confirmed that a woman named Courtney Rossel filed a lawsuit against Davis in Miami-Dade County, following an incident at a Miami-area nightclub.
“Most Valuable Promotions immediately initiated an investigation upon learning of the civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30, 2025,” said the promotional body that handles the upcoming bout.
With only days remaining, Garcia might step in to rescue the event, but no official statement or proof of a contract agreement has been laid down.
Garcia and Davis previously fought two years ago, when the undefeated knockout artist from Baltimore extended his perfect record via technical knockout.
Last Aug. 22, fight fans were in disbelief after Paul announced the exhibition bout, despite Davis still being an active fighter in the professional ranks.
If Garcia accepts Paul’s offer, this will be the first time that he has faced an active, ranked pro boxer since his loss to Tommy Fury two years ago.
Paul struggled in that bout and lost via split decision, although many believed Fury had done enough to earn a unanimous cruiserweight win.
