After blowing out their first six opponents in the University Basketball Association of Taiwan, Jack Animam and the Shih Hsin University faced their biggest test during a slugfest with University of Taipei.
The game put them in an unfamiliar situation after Taipei managed to keep within striking distance and kept the score close before Animam took over in the fourth and eventually pulled-away to clinch a 74-59 win.
Taipei disrupted Shih Hsin’s offensive flow as their patient and disciplined defense was able to catch them off-guard and was able to apply enough pressure to lower their scoring average per quarter.
However, Animam’s contribution came in at the most opportune time as she was able to spark a run in the fourth to help Shih Hsin build their lead further.
The former Gilas Pilipinas women’s superstar put on a clinic at the post, scoring at will to finish with a huge double-double performance, 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Animam and Shih Hsin’s valiant effort to notch win number seven put them in the number one spot of the UBA and will enter the Christmas break as the team to beat.
