Inmate’s pa caught sneaking ‘shabu’ hidden in tray of eggs

A father might soon be joining his son behind bars after he was caught possessing a sachet of suspected shabu.
Tirso Mendoza, a resident of Barangay Zarrague, Pototan, allegedly tried to sneak in the substance while visiting his son at the Iloilo District Jail in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo around 12:10 p.m. of Dec. 5.
Jail Chief Inspector Denver Beltran, IDJ warden, said the sachet of shabu was hidden in a tray of eggs.
Mendoza’s son was detained over a drug-related offense.
The suspect frequently visits the jail to bring food to his son and other inmates.
Mendoza claimed that he had no idea that he was carrying illegal drugs because another inmate whom he only identified as alias Boy asked him to bring the eggs.
Mendoza is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
