After three days of grueling tennis competition at La Paz tennis court, Nikhel Nowlakha of the ILOPRISAA dominated and swept his games all the way to the finals to clinch the 2019 Iloilo Sports Council Meet secondary men’s lawn tennis championship.
Nowlakha’s win in the semifinals set-up an all ILOPRISAA men’s tennis singles finals match between him and his teammate, Stephen Catipon.
The sharp ground strokes that Nowlakha unleashed against Catipon gave him the edge to beat his teammate, 8-5.
Meanwhile, ILOPRISAA’s Althea Martirez was hailed as the champion in the secondary women’s singles, beating her opponent from the Iloilo City Schools, 8-0.
The pair of Ivy Lou Emolaga and Colleen Gicana of the first district prevailed against the tough duo from the ILOPRISAA, beating them 8-4.
For the secondary men’s doubles, the third district clinched the title, obliterating the duo from the ILOPRISAA, 8-1.
The winners will represent the province of Iloilo in the 2020 Regional Sports Meet.
