Former Ilonggo PBA sniper Ronald Tubid just shocked the whole league after reports confirmed that he will be suiting up for the Terrafirma Dyip’s 3×3 team.
The 40-year-old assistant coach of Terrafirma will temporarily leave his sideline post and will take his talents into the 3×3 format which was also announced by the team and governor Bobby Rosales.
Tubid will be filling in the shoes of Jebb Bulawan and will team up with Dhon Reverente, Terrence Tumalip and Jeremiah Taladua.
This will be Tubid’s first game back since retirement and will also provide the much-needed veteran leadership in their quest for their very first PBA 3×3 championship title.
Despite being new in the 3×3 scene, Tubid’s scoring prowess, defensive mindset, and on-the-court communication skills will be a huge boost to Terrafirma who is yet to punch a grand finals ticket since its kick-off last year.
Tubid will be leading the Dyip against Ginebra, Meralco, and Purefoods in Pool C and is looking to make a quick statement when they play their first game today.
Terrafirma will be facing a stacked Ginebra lineup led by one of the most highly-regarded breakout stars, Encho Serrano, who also led the team to a grand finals ticket but suffered a painful loss.
If Tubid will lead Terrafirma to a stellar 2022 PBA 3×3 title, then he will cement his name in the PBA record book as the only nine-time champion to come out of retirement and clinch a 3×3 trophy.
