The pride of Santa Barbara, Iloilo has officially announced his highly-anticipated comeback in the ONE Championship ring.
Former Muay Thai world champion Robin Catalan will be squaring off against Elipitua Siregar of Indonesia at ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot to be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Despite more than a year of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) hiatus, the veteran Ilonggo fighter is back to reclaim his throne in the stacked strawweight division.
“I’m really excited to be back in One Championship. It’s been awhile since I competed. With all that waiting, and the postponement of our previous fight, I am truly pumped up because at last this match will finally push through,” Catalan said.
Catalan is eager to get back in the winning column after suffering a heartbreaking defeat against Ryuto Sawada via a first-round technical stoppage.
The savvy Ilonggo fighter split his last four matches: two losses against Sawada and Pongsiri Mitsatit and two wins against Gustavo Balart and Stefer Rahardian.
Catalan will still be representing the Catalan Fighting System fight club association and is anticipated to get back in the title fight conversation with a huge win against Siregar.
Aside from clinching a Muay Thai world champion trophy, Catalan also won several championships in the discipline of wushu, the main fighting style of the legendary Eduard Folayang representing the famous Team Lakay.
