John Christopher T. Gonzales of Guimbal, Iloilo, who is currently propelling the University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna (UPHS) Saints in the NCAA South, partnered with Adrian Vince Alvero and clinched the second place in the 1st JC Clarito and JM Villiapando badminton Tournament.
The tandem was put through the grinder in the elimination round as they faced five tough pairs before reaching the finals of the tourney.
During the finals, the tandem of Gonzales and Alvero and two other pairings played in a round-robin system because there were only three brackets.
Gonzales and Alvero won against Jeff Monton and Julues Lacson via forfeit.
In the finals, Mart Sebastian and John Rovil Delos Reyes defeated Gonzales and Alvero with a score of 23-31.
The tournament was held at HP2 Badminton Court Pacita, San Pedro Laguna.
