KAYA FC-Iloilo will host the 2019 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup games at the Panaad Park and Stadium as the Iloilo Sports Complex fell short of the stadium standards required to host an AFC tournament despite exhaustive preparations.
Kaya FC announced on its Facebook page the new game venue.
“Kaya FCIloilo would like to express our gratitude to the Provincial Government of Iloilo for their unwavering support over the first year of our flourishing partnership, and for all the efforts in upgrading the Iloilo Sports Complex. We remain committed to developing football in the region, and we are hopeful that soon we will be able to give Iloilo a firsthand experience of the excitement of hosting AFC matches,” the club said.
The only available stadium in the Philippines for international games is Panaad Stadium.
The team still trains in Iloilo in the lead up to AFC Cup games, and the club also invited all their supporters to make the short trip with them from Iloilo to Bacolod.
For Iloilo football director Edwin Caro Laru-an, they will still support of Kaya in Bacolod City despite the venue transfer.
“Ilonggo fans are solid in terms of supporting their home team. Even the games will kick off at Panaad Park, we will still join and cheer for our team,” he added.
