The most wanted person in Iloilo province was arrested late morning on June 25 in Janiuay town.
Edmer Dago Laceña, 28, a resident of Barangay Yabon, Janiuay, was apprehended in San Julian village.
Members of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station, along with the 603rd Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, executed the arrest warrant for murder under Criminal Case Number 23-1966.
The warrant, issued by Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of the Regional Trial Court Branch 76, Janiuay, Iloilo, on Dec. 21, 2023, recommended no bail for Laceña.
Laceña was implicated in a stabbing incident during a barangay fiesta celebration last year, which arose from a verbal altercation between the suspect, his two companions, and the victim.
During the argument, they collectively attacked and stabbed the victim.
Captain Alwin Salmon, Janiuay police chief, confirmed that Laceña’s two co-accused have already been arrested.
Colonel Bayani Razalan, Iloilo police chief, praised the officers involved in Laceña’s capture.
He assured the public that Ilonggo police would continue their relentless efforts to apprehend all wanted persons, bringing relief to the community, especially to the victims and their families.
