Iloilo police seize PHP 442,000 in suspected shabu, arrest worker

ILOILO CITY — A 28-year-old construction worker was arrested during an anti-drug operation in Lapuz district on the evening of Sept. 8.
Police identified the suspect only as “Toto,” a resident of Barangay Alalasan, Lapuz.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit and Iloilo City Police Station 8 conducted the buy-bust operation in Barangay Rizal Lapuz Sur.
Officers recovered 11 sachets containing suspected shabu and several non-drug items from the suspect, police said.
Police Capt. Jersey Besas, officer in charge of the city police drug enforcement unit, said the seized substance weighed about 65 grams.
The suspected shabu had an estimated value of PHP 442,000 based on the police standard drug price.
The suspect remains in the custody of Police Station 8.
Police said they were preparing charges against him under Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
